Lambada (originally by Kaoma)
George Kuruvilla blogs at Rumination. I’m a techie by day and musician by night. I have been singing since the age of 6 and, aside from an initiation into carnatic music for about 2 yrs, I have had very little musical training. My musical influence spans all genres of music from carnatic to heavy metal.I wanted to do something totally different and hence picked this song. This is a song by the French group Kaoma. Lambada is actually a form of dance for couples that is very popular in Brazil. There are a number of songs based around this dance form and this one is probably the most recognized world wide.
The song was originally sung by a woman. I did not want to change the scale as I felt it would ruin the beauty of the song. This definitely ranks as one of the toughest songs I’ve covered coz of the style, all the subtle expressions and nuances and ofcourse the language.
Hope this takes you down memory lane

George U have done a wonderful job especially on this song, u can take the credit to claim that u r a versatile singer:)
1. U never altered the pitch BUT did sing in the same female tone and pitch which is difficult for a male singer, but that alone made it a beautiful song to listen and a memorable one, which i have in my i-pod.
2. U were extremely comfortable though it is not the language with which u r familiar!
3. The feeling, emotional aspect of the song, which makes every head to rock, u could make a million head dance to your tunes!
4. Awesome clarity, mixing and harmonies, i declare this is one of your ‘THE BEST’ songs which i have heard from your shelf.
Am too lucky to have come across a singer of your caliber, truly dedicated effort is seen in all your songs.
would love to rate it 101/100 and if there are any stars then would award all the stars in the Universe!. Best wishes and lots of Love.
